alive and well

i'm glad to report that (knock on wood) things are going well now.  after 2 1/2 weeks of lucy being sick and scrambling to manage work and lucy care, we are now on vacation.  i have been looking forward to this vacation all summer.  we celebrated my gpa's 80th bday on friday and now paul is golfing in a golf tournament in SB...lots of good pics to follow....

a day to remember, part 2

just about as soon as i blogged this morning, i got a call that lucy had thrown up at daycare.  so she was home with me today again, sick.  ugh...keep your fingers crossed that she kicks this FAST.

jean?

i had one more thing i wanted to post about today.  i need some feedback on everyone's favorite jeans.  i have a pair of seven's that really fit well and are great quality.  i'm debating getting another pair, but i wanted to know what brand or type of jeans are YOUR fav???  any feedback is appreciated...i am happy to share that i met my goal of fitting back into my seven jeans after having lucy (just a small detail that it took 10+ months).  i guess it's better late than never!

the dealio

today is an speical day in our lives...it is our 4th wedding anniversary.  4 years ago we celebrated with our friends and family on a beautiful day 'up north'.  it's hard to believe it's been 4 years, things have changed since then :-).

here is a walk down memory lane (i had planned on only one pic, but i got out of hand)...such good memories:

my aunt suzie made this awesome painting on felt...

today lucy is 11 months.  we have had an interesting week.  lucy was sent home from daycare on tuesday around noon with some loose stools.  so she had to stay home with us yesterday.  needless to say, she does not seem sick at all and was in a great mood.  however, we didn't get much work done around here.  i know i updated earlier this week about what she is up to, but i thought i should add to the list...

she now has 3 teeth through on the top and LOVES talking on the phone.  the other morning her and i were on a walk and she was holding my phone and all of sudden said, 'hello' (well more like 'LO) and then she continues to chat on the phone.  she says, 'YA' and or 'DADA' and then starts all over again with 'LO.  it's pretty cute. i tried to take a pic of her chatting away with the phone to her ear.  this is the best i could do.

she also loves dancing, we were at the mall yesterday and they had mall-like music playing and she stopped and starting to shake her head and body.  this went on for about 2-3 min...hilarious.  i think she does lots of dancing at daycare.  she also really loves to dance to hear leap frog 'fridge phonics' toy.  for those of you that know what i'm referring to with this toy, it's awesome.  she can now place the magnets in the toy and play the song.

now that she is mastered walking (and attempted running) she is into playing outside with her toys.  i grabbed a couple shots of this.

she also is very, very social.  at the mall yesterday, she was walking up to people to show them her book and try to share it with them.  funny.  she really likes to make eye contact with people and will stare them down until they give her some attention.  my mom said i was like that as a kid as well.  she remembers me running up to other kids and giving them GREAT big hugs.

last night was a rough night here for sleep, lucy was up from about midnight to 230 am...she seemed super uncomfortable, we aren't sure if it is teething or the stomach bug she's fighting.

anyway, here's some pics...one more month until she is 1!!!  craziness!

what a whirlwind

well it's sunday night and we survived the week.  it's been pretty crazy with us...last tuesday we flew out to colorado springs for a work trip with my company.  it was pretty cool because it was family friendly trip so all we had to do was get there and then it was covered.  we stayed at the broadmoor, which was sweet.  i was in meetings for the mornings and then we had activities with our families in the afternoons and evenings.  paul and lucy hung out at the pool when i was in meetings and then we ventured to the cheyenne mountain zooon wednesday afternoon.  all in all, it was a good time and a good experience.  we got home on friday and have spent the last 2 days catching up and getting back in the swing of things.  lucy did better than i expected on the flights so that really helped.  this week lucy will be 11 months.  she now claps, waves, and is saying 'no' all the time.   her top two teeth are through the skin and she is working on the next top 2.  paul and i are also celebrating our 4th wedding anniversary.  we are hoping to enjoy some of the summer olympics this time around...for the last olympics we were on our honeymoon.  happy bday to naydine today and happy anniversary to my sister-in-law and bro-in-law...oh and congrats to holly and pat with their new baby noah and to theresa and scott with their new baby cecelia, both had their babies this week when i was gone in CO!

i think these tunnels were her fav at the zoo, she was totally into peeking into them at us.  her personality is really shining through and she was loving interacting with the other kids at the zoo...what a riot.

and that's it...sorry for the pic overload.  i took my old camera on the trip and totally noticed how much longer the shutter speed is on it and how much better the quality of my new camera is.  here's to a good week!

going down

we had our first big fall in the household this past weekend.  and lucy still has a little indent on her forehead.  also, one of her front teeth has broke the skin and the other is VERY close.  it's going to change her look so much with the big gompers.  she continues to walk/run everywhere!!

i didn't feel like uploading pics off of my camera so here are some AWESOME shots from sb that kim took of lucy and then lucy and max.  the outfit that lucy has on is my old outfit :-).  have a great week!

ideas?

does anyone have any good ideas for a summer appetizer to make????
please note it needs to be easy for me to be able to pull it together :-)

on the move

i had to post a quick video of lucy walking this morning.  she is pretty funny and getting more confident each day.  falling down doesn't even seem to bother her...

happy wednesday, i can't believe it's almost AUGUST!

more pics

i had to add some more pics from the weekend that my mom took.  we gave lucy a bath outside at the cabin in her duck.  she loved it.

and just for the record, her new favorite word and obsession is 'dog'.

last night was a rough one with sleep, it took me over 2 hours to get her to sleep and settled down.  i noticed this morning though that i think she is cutting a front tooth, which i'm pretty sure is why she was so upset last night.  it was awful, paul was at a work event and she was crying and saying 'nananana' (that's her version of 'mamama').  she has this high pitched cry that is her pain cry, poor thing.

FOOD UPDATE:  she is doing pretty good with eating more and more 'real' food.  she really likes chicken and toast and doesn't really like cheese yet (not sure if it is the texture or what).  and about 2 weeks ago, we noticed/realized that the formula we were supplementing her with at daycare was causing her extreme discomfort and gas.  so we switched from milk based formula to soy formula.  i was really hesitant to do so because i didn't want to have to worry about her not being able to handle milk throughout her life.  the doc doesnt think she is lactose intolerant, but probably that she has a milk sensitivity that she will probably outgrow.  it seems like this is sitting better in her tummy.  anyone have any experience with soy vs. milk based formula?
